More than 15 million international tourists visited Florida in 2015

More than 15.2 million international visitors traveled to Florida in 2015, according to new numbers released this week by Visit Florida, the state’s tourism marketing organization. Lake Worth Beach

In all, international travelers spent more than $15.8 billion in Florida last year, the organization said. The state drew travelers from 190 different countries.

Last year was a record-breakers for the state’s tourism industry. Roughly 105 million tourists visited Florida in 2015, beating the previous all-time high of 98.5 million visitors by 6.6 percent, according to data released in February by Gov. Rick Scott’s office.

Canada held its spot as the state’s top international country for tourism, Visit Florida said.  More than 3.9 million Canadian visitors traveled to Florida last year, spending a total of $4.1 billion.

The United Kingdom ranked second with 1.7 million visitors. Brazil, Argentina and Colombia round out the top five markets.
