Marine trade group sets meeting to discuss dredging of popular sandbar

Palm Beach County’s marine trade association will hold a public meeting on Thursday to discuss its plan to dredge parts of the popular sandbar north of Peanut Island.

Intermittent rainstorms throughout the morning and early afternoon, with more forecast throughout the day, resulted in smaller crowds this year. (Thomas Cordy / The Palm Beach Post)

The Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County has proposed dredging a channel through the sandbar, a move the group says would help improve navigation and safety in that section of the Intracoastal Waterway.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be held in the meeting room at Phil Foster Park, 900 Blue Heron Blvd, Riviera Beach.
