Winn-Dixie raises more than $565K to help Louisiana flood victims

Winn-Dixie’s parent company, Southeastern Grocers, announced Thursday that it has raised more than $565,000 through an in-store donation program to help flood victims in Louisiana.

The program, which was created in partnership with the American Red Cross, ran through Aug. 23. Winn-Dixie, BI-LO and Harveys customers were able to contribute to the flood relief efforts in stores across the  southeast part of the country. Southeastern Grocers said it matched every dollar donated by customers through the program.

“We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our customers, associates and communities throughout our footprint for supporting families in Louisiana during these challenging times,” said Ian McLeod, CEO and president of Southeastern Grocers. “The donation amount is a true testament of the generosity of our customers, and we are delighted to present the American Red Cross with over $565,000 for disaster relief.”

The money will be used by the Red Cross to provide shelter, water, hot meals, first aid and other support to victims of the flooding.
