The Juno Surf Shop, a 52-year-old fixture in the Palm Beach County’s north end, is looking for a new owner.
Tom Butterworth opened the store after graduating high school, when he was just 17-years-old.
Now 70, Butterworth says he’d like to retire.
“I have stuck with it all of these years,” Butterworth said. “A lot of people have retired long before me. It is my turn.”
The surf shop first opened near the corner of PGA Boulevard and U.S. 1. Over the year’s its been moved to six different locations – including its current spot near the corner of Donald Ross Road and U.S. 1.
Butterworth has put a sign up at the store saying he’s looking for a buyer. But it will have to be the right person, he said.
“I don’t want anybody coming in and putting in an ice cream shop,” he said. “I would like to see Juno Surf Shop continue. It has been a staple here.”
