Will J.C. Penney stores close Palm Beach County stores?

The quick answer: No.

The retail chain will close only two stores in Florida. They are the locations at the Jacksonville Regional Shopping Center and Palatka Mall.

Overall, J.C. Penney will shutter 138 stores across the country — almost a quarter of the total in just in four states. Nine will close in Texas, eight in Minnesota and seven each in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Store close-out sales, the company said, will start in April and the stores will be closed by the middle of June. After that, J.C. Penney will still list about 900 stores.

In addition to J.C. Penney, RadioShack, Hhgregg, Macy’s, BCBG Maxazria and American Apparel have all announced closures in recent weeks.
