Veterans Day 2016: Here’s where to find a deal today

Several national chains and local businesses are giving away freebies and discounts this Veterans Day to honor veterans and active-duty military.

Here’s where you can find a deal. This list will be updated, so check back for new promotions.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is offering a complimentary small order of Meatballs with Ricotta Cheese to any active or former United States Armed Forces personnel on Friday, November 11. In addition, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza restaurants will be dropping off complimentary lunch to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Centers in a dozen of the brand’s regions throughout Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Applebee’s

For the ninth consecutive year, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar will honor veterans and active members of the military by offering each a free meal at its nearly 1,900  restaurants in the US on Veterans Day.

Guests must provide proof of military service, which includes: U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

This year all current and former military personnel will also receive a $5 coupon that can be redeemed between November 12 and November 27, 2016.

Applebee’s will offer seven of its signature menu items on its Veterans Day menu:

Chipotle

All active duty military, reserves, national guard, military spouses and retired military with a valid U.S. military ID and veterans with ID can buy a burrito and get a second one for free from 3 p.m. to close on Veteran’s Day. The offer is available at all Chipotle restaurants in the US and is valid on burritos, bowls, salads and taco orders.

Dine for Veterans

You can dine at select South Florida restaurants and the restaurant will donate a portion of the proceeds to help veterans. Click here to see a list of participating restaurants.

Duffy’s Sports Grill

On Veterans Day, Duffy’s will donating 5 percent of its total company sales for the day to Veterans. The chain plans to split the sales amount between the Honor Flight and Forgotten Soldiers Outreach programs. The program is estimated to generate up to $10, 000 for Veterans causes.

Hurricane Grill & Wings

Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel will receive a complimentary entrée and non-alcoholic beverage from a select menu on Veterans Day. Verification through ID or Uniform will be required.

IHOP

IHOP Restaurants will offer veterans and active-duty military with proof of service a complimentary stack of patriotic Red, White & Blue Pancakes on Veterans Day.

The promotion is available at participating U.S. IHOP locations between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Select IHOP restaurants will also offer a combo of two eggs, hash browns and choice of two bacon strips or pork sausage links as part of the Red, White & Blue Pancake promotion for retired and active duty military personnel.

Proof of service includes: US Uniformed Services ID Card, US Uniformed Services Retired ID Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), veterans organization card (i.e. American Legion, VFW, etc.), photograph of self in US military uniform, wearing uniform, DD214, military dog tags, and citation or commendation.

Lime Fresh Mexican Grill

The restaurant will offer offer all veterans and military personnel a complimentary original taco and fountain drink. The promotion is valid at all Lime Fresh locations, excluding college campuses. Guests must show military IDs.

Lime Fresh has one Palm Beach County location in Shadowood Square, 20642 State Rd. 7, Boca Raton.

Nick & Johnny’s Osteria

The newly opened Nick & Johnny’s Osteria, in Juno Beach will donating 10 percent of gross sales for the day of November 11th to honor Veterans. Nick & Johnny’s has partnered with the Renewal Coalition of Jupiter to support a local Veterans cause.

Publix

Service members and their families with a military ID will receive a 10 percent discount on Veterans Day.  The offer excludes gift cards, alcohol, tobacco, lottery items, stamps and prescriptions.

Red Lobster

Active duty military and reservists will get a free appetizer or dessert with a valid military ID on November 10 and 11.

Red Robbin has locations in the Palm Beach Outlets in West Palm Beach and Wellington.

TooJay’s

Veterans and active military eat FREE from a special menu this Friday for Veteran’s Day at all TooJay’s locations. Veterans must show Military ID.

TooJay’s, which began its first restaurant on Palm Beach in 1981, now has 28 locations statewide. Ten of those restaurants are in Palm Beach County.

Winn-Dixie

Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of  Winn-Dixie stores, has launched a Veterans Day Wall of Honor community donation program in all stores. Now through November 15, customers and associates can show their support for veterans of the armed forces by making a donation at checkout to benefit Hope For The Warriors, an organization that provides service members, veterans and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement and connections to community resources.

 

 

 

 

 

National Wing Day 2016: Here’s where to find a deal

A number of Palm Beach businesses are offering deep discounts to lure shoppers across the Intracostal this summer.

The Worth Avenue Association kicked off its summer campaign this week, offering a number of deals at local eateries, retailers and spas.

The association said the “Worth the Drive” campaign is designed to make a “day in Palm Beach not only accessible but affordable.”

“Business definitely slows down during the summer. It’s the nature of the beast,” said Marley Herring, association president and owner of Marley’s Palm Beach Collection. “I do think [the campaign] helps activity on the street, and it results in sales for the merchants. Any effort that we can do to drive traffic toward the Avenue is a good thing.”

Deal alert: See a movie for $1 this summer

Two local theaters will let you watch a kid-friendly movie for just $1 this summer.

Cinemark plans to bring back its annual “Summer Movie Clubhouse,”  which lets theater goers watch recent G and PG-rated movies on selected mornings for ten weeks throughout the summer. The cost of admission: $1 per person, or catch all 10 movies for $5.

Two local theaters — the Cinemark Palace 20 & XD in Boca Raton and the Cinemark Boynton Beach 14 & XD in Boynton Beach – are participating in the promotion.

National Donut Day 2016: Where to find a freebie

National Donut Day is Friday, June 3, and in honor of the annual event Dunkin’ Donuts will be giving away a free donut to customers who purchase a beverage.

Here is the fine print: Dunkin is offering “guests a free classic donut of their choice (while supplies last) with the purchase of any beverage. The offer is good all day on June 3 at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide,” according to the company’s website.

National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The holiday is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of June.

Here is the deal: Customers can purchase a f’real milkshake or smoothie for just 99 cents. For every purchase, the company will donate 25 cents to Make-A-Wish.
