Veterans Day 2016: Here’s where to find a deal today

Several national chains and local businesses are giving away freebies and discounts this Veterans Day to honor veterans and active-duty military.

Here’s where you can find a deal. This list will be updated, so check back for new promotions.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is offering a complimentary small order of Meatballs with Ricotta Cheese to any active or former United States Armed Forces personnel on Friday, November 11. In addition, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza restaurants will be dropping off complimentary lunch to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Centers in a dozen of the brand’s regions throughout Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Applebee’s

For the ninth consecutive year, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar will honor veterans and active members of the military by offering each a free meal at its nearly 1,900  restaurants in the US on Veterans Day.

Guests must provide proof of military service, which includes: U.S. Uniform Services Identification Card, U.S. Uniform Services Retired Identification Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement, Veterans Organization Card, photograph in uniform or wearing uniform, DD214, Citation or Commendation.

This year all current and former military personnel will also receive a $5 coupon that can be redeemed between November 12 and November 27, 2016.

Applebee’s will offer seven of its signature menu items on its Veterans Day menu:

Butcher’s Meat and Potatoes
Oriental Chicken Salad
Fiesta Lime Chicken
Chicken Tenders Platter
Double Crunch Shrimp
Three-Cheese Chicken Penne
American Standard All-In Burger

Chipotle

All active duty military, reserves, national guard, military spouses and retired military with a valid U.S. military ID and veterans with ID can buy a burrito and get a second one for free from 3 p.m. to close on Veteran’s Day. The offer is available at all Chipotle restaurants in the US and is valid on burritos, bowls, salads and taco orders.

Dine for Veterans

You can dine at select South Florida restaurants and the restaurant will donate a portion of the proceeds to help veterans. Click here to see a list of participating restaurants.

Duffy’s Sports Grill

On Veterans Day, Duffy’s will donating 5 percent of its total company sales for the day to Veterans. The chain plans to split the sales amount between the Honor Flight and Forgotten Soldiers Outreach programs. The program is estimated to generate up to $10, 000 for Veterans causes.

Hurricane Grill & Wings

Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel will receive a complimentary entrée and non-alcoholic beverage from a select menu on Veterans Day. Verification through ID or Uniform will be required.

 Veterans Day Special Menu:

·         10 Wings (Jumbo or Boneless Wing Dippers)

·         Yuengling® Beer-Battered Fish & Chips

·         BBQ Pulled Pork Quesadilla

·         Beach Burger Sliders

·         Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad

The chain has locations in Wellington, Jupiter, Boynton Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton.

IHOP

IHOP Restaurants will offer veterans and active-duty military with proof of service a complimentary stack of patriotic Red, White & Blue Pancakes on Veterans Day.

The promotion is available at participating U.S. IHOP locations between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Select IHOP restaurants will also offer a combo of two eggs, hash browns and choice of two bacon strips or pork sausage links as part of the Red, White & Blue Pancake promotion for retired and active duty military personnel.

Proof of service includes: US Uniformed Services ID Card, US Uniformed Services Retired ID Card, Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), veterans organization card (i.e. American Legion, VFW, etc.), photograph of self in US military uniform, wearing uniform, DD214, military dog tags, and citation or commendation.

Lime Fresh Mexican Grill

The restaurant will offer offer all veterans and military personnel a complimentary original taco and fountain drink. The promotion is valid at all Lime Fresh locations, excluding college campuses. Guests must show military IDs.

Lime Fresh has one Palm Beach County location in Shadowood Square, 20642 State Rd. 7, Boca Raton.

Nick & Johnny’s Osteria

The newly opened Nick & Johnny’s Osteria, in Juno Beach will donating 10 percent of gross sales for the day of November 11th to honor Veterans. Nick & Johnny’s has partnered with the Renewal Coalition of Jupiter to support a local Veterans cause.

Publix

Service members and their families with a military ID will receive a 10 percent discount on Veterans Day.  The offer excludes gift cards, alcohol, tobacco, lottery items, stamps and prescriptions.

Red Lobster

Active duty military and reservists will get a free appetizer or dessert with a valid military ID on November 10 and 11.

All Veterans and active-duty military members with proof of service receive a FREE Red’s Tavern Double Burger and Bottomless Steak Fries. No purchase is necessary. Dine-in only.

Red Robbin has locations in the Palm Beach Outlets in West Palm Beach and Wellington.

TooJay’s

Veterans and active military eat FREE from a special menu this Friday for Veteran’s Day at all TooJay’s locations. Veterans must show Military ID.

TooJay’s, which began its first restaurant on Palm Beach in 1981, now has 28 locations statewide. Ten of those restaurants are in Palm Beach County.

Winn-Dixie

Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of  Winn-Dixie stores, has launched a Veterans Day Wall of Honor community donation program in all stores. Now through November 15, customers and associates can show their support for veterans of the armed forces by making a donation at checkout to benefit Hope For The Warriors, an organization that provides service members, veterans and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement and connections to community resources.

 

 

 

 

 

This national chain is giving away FREE frappés next week

To mark the unofficial end of summer, participating Dairy Queen next week will be giving customers a FREE Ultimate Oreo Frappé.

“This is the time of year when everyone gets a fresh start from the classroom to the football field,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation. “None of us want summer to end, so at DQ we are easing the transition for our fans with a Free Frappé Giveaway.”

The Ultimate Oreo Frappé is a combination of coffee, ice and Oreo cookie pieces blended with creamy DQ signature vanilla soft serve and crowned with whipped topping and Oreo cookie pieces, the company said.

 

Free children’s yoga class at The Gardens Mall

The Gardens Mall is helping kids beat the summer heat with a free yoga class on Aug. 13.

The one-hour class is opened to children ages 4-12. It runs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will be held in the mall’s Grand Court.

The event is presented by Athleta and Kidding Around Yoga. Athleta will have a personal shopper on hand to help moms looking for the latest workout gear.

There will also be a complimentary breakfast bar featuring an assortment of fresh juice, hot tea, water, fruit, muffins, and bagels. Kids will enjoy healthy snacks after their class.

Children should bring a yoga mat or beach towel, and a water bottle.

National Donut Day 2016: Where to find a freebie

National Donut Day is Friday, June 3, and in honor of the annual event Dunkin’ Donuts will be giving away a free donut to customers who purchase a beverage.

Here is the fine print: Dunkin is offering “guests a free classic donut of their choice (while supplies last) with the purchase of any beverage. The offer is good all day on June 3 at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide,” according to the company’s website.

National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The holiday is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of June.

The mall said it plans to give away free carnations to mothers as a “thank you for all they do.”

Teachers are in for a treat today.

In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day 2016, a number of local businesses are offering freebies and deals to teachers and school staff.

Here is a list of where you can find a deal in Palm Beach County:

PDQ

Teachers (with a valid Teacher ID from their school) will receive a FREE combo meal on Tuesday, May 3. The promotion includes the chain’s tasty 3-piece chicken tenders, a sandwich or a salad. There is a limit of one promotion per person.

PDQ, short for “People Dedicated to Quality,” has locations in West Palm Beach and Wellington.

World of Beer

World of Beer is giving teachers a free beer on Tuesday.

As part of the promotion, teachers (with a valid teacher’s ID) will receive a free Angry Orchard cider or Sam Adams beer in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day.

WOB has more than 75 taverns in 22 states. In Palm Beach County, the company has locations in Wellington and West Palm Beach.

Chipotle

School employees with a valid school ID who buy a burrito, bowl, salad, or an order of tacos will get a second one for free.

The promotion runs from 3 p.m. to close and is available to pre-school, community college and university staff in addition to those working at an elementary, middle or high schools.

Chipotle’s deal is limited to one free menu item per teacher and is not valid on online orders.

Zinburger Wine and Burger Bar

Zinburger Wine and Burger Bar, which has a location in Boca Raton, is offering teachers a free shake on Tuesday, May 3.
