Roughly 112 million consumers spent money at small businesses on Small Business Saturday, up 13 percent from last year, the survey found.
“It’s exciting for us to see the record number of consumers who came out in support of independently-owned businesses on Small Business Saturday,” said Elizabeth Rutledge, EVP of Global Advertising and Media at American Express. “People across the country are aware of the benefits that small businesses can bring to the community, and the momentum that was started seven years ago with the first Small Business Saturday continues to build.”
American Express, in 2010, began encouraging shoppers to visit small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Five new 7-Eleven stores in Palm Beach County will be offering free samples and giveaways to celebrate their grand openings before the end of the year.
During the grand openings, each store will offer free samples of 7-Select products, promotional savings and coupons for free products. Vendors will vary at each event, but may include Coke, Pepsi, Monster, Red Bull, Coors, Budweiser and Frito Lay, the convenience store chain said.
“With 37 stores currently operating in Palm Beach County, 7-Eleven plans aggressive growth for South Florida in 2017,” 7-Eleven Real Estate Manager, Charles Bantos said. “In addition to the four new stores planned for 2016, we plan to open approximately five stores in the county and a total of 20 stores in Southeast Florida next year. We are excited to see this growth in our neighborhood as 7-Eleven’s convenient offerings become more accessible to surrounding residents.”

More than 122 million people are expected to shop online on Cyber Monday, up from 121 million last year, according to the National Retail Federation.
More than 28 million people, or 23 percent of Cyber Monday shoppers, plan to shop for Cyber Monday deals from their mobile device this year, about even with last year’s 29.6 million. More than eight in 10— 98.6 million people, will use their computers at home to shop on Monday, while 11.2 million will shop from their computers at work, a study conducted on behalf of the federation found.
“On Cyber Monday, retailers deliver online discounts unlike any other day of the year—driving consumers to shop online no matter where they are or what device they’re shopping from,” NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said. “Millions of consumers shopped over Thanksgiving weekend and reserved a portion of their budgets exclusively for Cyber Monday, knowing that there will be digital deals that are too good to pass up.”

PlayStation 4 Slim
Unfortunately the 4K ready PlayStation 4 Pro is a no-show on Black Friday, but there is a great holiday bundle from Sony which includes the PlayStation 4 Slim 500GB console and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Kohl’s is sort of ubiquitous this year with their Kohl’s Cash deal, and with $15 in Kohl’s Cash free for every $50 spent, the net cost will almost always be lower at Kohl’s. Protip: The $249.99 price is a penny away from another $15 in Kohl’s cash. Find something that costs only a couple of bucks and get another $15 back.
Have no use for Kohl’s cash but wouldn’t mind two free games? Best Buy is tossing in free downloads of Ratchet & Clank and The Last of Us Remastered with purchase of the PS4 Slim holiday bundle. Note that GameStop’s ad which appears to have the same deal is a trap; the fine print reads that shoppers may choose only one of these two titles.

A record-breaking 85 million people visited Florida during the first nine months of the year, a 5.5 percent increase over last year and the highest tourism count ever recorded from January to September, Gov. Rick Scott’s office said Monday.
The governor’s office said 26.9 million visitors came to the state during the third quarter of the year, an increase of 5.1 percent.
The average number of direct travel-related jobs was also a record high, Scott’s office said. Between July and September, there were 1.2 million Floridians employed in the tourism industry, an increase of 4.1 percent.
A record 1.59 million people visited Palm Beach County during the third quarter of 2016, an increase of 8.2 percent over the same time period last year, county tourism leaders said Thursday.
Jorge Pesquera, president and CEO for Discover The Palm Beaches, the county’s official tourism marketing organization, said the county is on pace to welcome 7.2 million in 2016, exceeding last year’s record of 6.9 million.
