Paddlefest to be held in West Palm Beach today

The Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County will host the first annual Palm Beach Paddlefest today as part of a push to showcase the industry.

The free event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Currie Park in West Palm Beach.  It is being planned in partnership with the City of West Palm Beach and Nautical Ventures.

The event will features entertainment, food, and demonstrations throughout the day, including Kayaking 101, intro to paddleboarding, and paddleboard yoga.

Attendees can also sign up for guided kayak tours on the Lake Worth Lagoon offered by Visit Palm Beach.

The marine trade group hopes to make the festival an annual event.

MarineMax to open in Palm Beach Gardens

MarineMax, recreational boat and yacht retailer, plans to open a new location at PGA Marina Center in Palm Beach Gardens.

The store will be located on the Intracoastal Waterway, just off PGA Boulevard, and will be accessible by both land and water. It will carry top brands including Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, Azimut, Galeon and Scout.

“We are excited about the opportunity to better serve our customers in the West Palm Beach and surrounding area,” said Paul Cummings, MarineMax Southeast Florida Regional President. “This new marina location will give us an opportunity to provide the same outstanding sales and service our customers have come to expect.”
