The plaza is aimed at making the cellphone-waiting area more enticing. In addition to parking space for waiting cars, the travel plaza will also have a gas station, convenience store and Dunkin’ Donuts with a drive-through.

The project, which was expected to open last year, has been delayed because of permitting issues.

The convenience store building will offer wireless internet for those waiting on passengers and real-time flight information boards similar to those displayed inside PBIA’s main terminal. In addition to the Dunkin’ Donuts, the plaza features 2 electric car charging stations, a car wash, Mobil gas station, 7-Eleven convenience store and a new Cell Phone Lot with 85 parking spaces.

The plaza will have access off Belvedere Road, access to the airport roads leading to the terminal and to PBIA’s direct-connect ramps to and from Interstate 95.

In addition to the Thursday’s giveaway, the Dunkin Donuts at the plaza will be two egg and cheese on an English muffin for $3 and $1.49 any size hot or iced coffee for DD Perk Members. The promotion runs through the end of the month.
